James Edmund Allen 1894-1964 American This is an original pencil signed etching by American artist James Allen. The title is: The Builders, it was created and printed in 1932 in an edition of 100. The image measures 9 3/4X11 3/4 inches. Very fine condition apart from a couple of old glue spots on the back of the sheet, This etching looks great... The image appears in the Reese book, "American Prize Prints". This etching is in the Ryan catalog as image number 62...

Leon Louis Dolice, American, 1892-1960, Etching with Aquatint, image size: 10 5/8 x 6 inches, pencil signed

Etching on paper, 16 1/4" by 14 1/4", with narrow metal framing, pencil signed at lower right by artist, who, if I read correctly the Russian on the reverse, is one VLADIMIR KOSTROMIN. An old original label on reverse has a 1978 date, so I would imagine the print dates to the late 1970's. The ink is a greenish black. Moisture has compromised the margins and mold stained and rippled them; reframing would help exclude that...

ONE OF A NUMBER BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP**This is a small etching, 7 3/8" by 5 1/4" inside the mat, 15" by 11 3/4" as simply framed, by the noted California artist HARRIET GENE ROUDEBUSH (1908-1998), titled at lower left margin "Carmel cypress trees" and pencil signed at lower right by the artist. The imagery features stately, classic Monterey Cypress trees on the famous foggy coastline. Roudebush was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to Sacramento as a youth...

Gerald Leslie Brockhurst 1890-1978 English One of the finest portrait etchings ever created by British artist Gerald Brockhurst. "Henry Rushbury", created and printed in 1930. Rushbury, like Brockhurst studied at the Birmingham School of Art and the two later shared an apartment in London. Rushbury was an accomplished etcher as well... This etching is very richly printed, the subtle tonal range is incredible in person, our scan doesn't .do this image justice...

Joseph Pennell, American, 1857-1926, etching, "Upper Fifth Ave, New York City", image size: 12 x 8 3/8 inches, 1904, edition of probably 50, cat. Wuerth-323, pencil signed lower center.

A circa 1920's etching of the Woolworth Building in New York City, the print signed in the plate and then pencil signed at lower right margin by American artist F.W.W. HOPPE. The artist did leave behind a number of etchings of New York scenes, but there seems to be a lack of biographical information on him or her. The print is in brown ink on a thin paper. Measurements inside the present mat (no glass) are 9 1/2" by 5 1/4" (14 1/4" by 9 1/2" in thin strip frame)...

Etching on paper laid on card, the subject a marketplace in the Jewish Quarter of Amsterdam, signed with "ML" initials and "927" as if a date (not the typical signature of the artist, apparently added later either by him or some other party). This is a work "Judenstrasse in Amsterdam", 1909, by famous German artist MAX LIEBERMANN (1847-1935)...

Dorsey Potter Tyson 1891-1969 American This is a very fine original hand colored drypoint etching by American artist Dorsey Potter Tyson. The title is: Dragon Boat Festival, this etching was created and printed in 1929 in an edition of 100, this one is numbered as 42/100. This pencil signed etching measures an image of 11 7/8X9 7/8 inches. It is nicely framed in an orientalist frame with french matting.

Aquatint on paper laid on board, 1924, "Le Village d'Herouville", 18 3/4 " by 24" inside the mat, and 26 1/4" by 31" framed, after an original by the famous and important French modern artist MAURICE de VLAMINCK (1876-1958), adopted for reproduction by equally noted artist Jacques Villon (11875-1963). Vlaminck is known as a Fauvist and later simply as an expressionist. At auctions, his works in oil bring from the low hundreds of thousands of dollars to the low millions...

Image size 11 x 16 1/2 inches, c. 1880s, shepherd's crook remarque in the lower right corner, pencil signed. A rich impression with beautiful plate tone and ample margins on Japan paper.

This is a fine etching of a pair of wind-sculpted pine trees on an exposed knoll, by a well regarded artist most associated with Connecticut, where he was born and where he died. Kappel's work includes a wide variety of subjects in painting and the graphic arts...
