Stunning tall pair of Japanese rabbits with a rich bronze patina over metal. Very heavy, they have the weight of solid bronze and the underlying metal may possibly be white bronze. A soldered metal figural group sculpture apparently depicting a military charge in modern context. By Outsider/Brutalist Artist Franklin E. Wurster. Signed "Frank Wurster" and titled "The Race". Fair/Good condition with one figure having come undone at the soldered joints. Can be resoldered but we'll leave that project to the purchaser. Length of the supporting plinth, 15 inches. Height including plinth, about 11 1/2 inches.

When I first saw this piece, it screamed to me "Picasso". The 11 1/2" by 7 1/2" work is not signed, but the style, the slight glaze on the baked clay surface, the decoration, is suggestive of the ceramic Madoura works of Picasso. The item weighs just shy of three pounds. Condition is excellent.

A gray soapstone carving of a blubbery walrus, measuring roughly 8" by 2" by 2". These carvings, which make great paperweights, sold as tourist art in northern, Arctic regions of Canada at mid century remain popular, and a secondary market has evolved.
