Carl Milles dominated the Swedish art world. He received many public commissions in Sweden and abroad. He was a monumental sculptor who received many public art commissions at a time when many cities expanded and were modernised.
Stunning tall pair of Japanese rabbits with a rich bronze patina over metal. Very heavy, they have the weight of solid bronze and the underlying metal may possibly be white bronze. A terrific decorator item, they are in very good condition with only minor abrasions underneath. Standing rabbit measures 9.75 inches high and 9" long. Reclining rabbit measures 9.5" at ear tip and 11" long. Dates 2nd half 20th C

Infants Jesus and St. John the Baptist, a plaster of Paris / chalkware group, French, mid-19th century. The small Baptist with a cross and lamb is leaning towards Jesus who makes a gesture of benediction and is holding a scroll with the words “Agnus Dei” (God’s Lamb). Behind Jesus is a vine with grapes. The two little friends measure "5/ 12.5 cm in height and have a beautiful patina. Condition: fine.

Original cold-cast sculpture with silver patina by Constance Freedman (English, 1928-1982), circa 1960, in excellent original condition. This work measures approximately 8 1/2" and is mounted on a black enamel base. Provenance: from the artist's nephew. Constance Freedman was an associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (ARBS). Her works have sold in the major auction houses, and she is listed in the usual databases and reference works.
Interesting, well-crafted panel, the design very Art Deco in style, featuring a male nude in reddish brown silhouetted against a silvery background. The panel measures 11 1/2" by 9 1/2" plus 1" wide frame, and is signed in the wet clay at lower right by artist HAL ALTMAN (1922-2011).
