A soldered metal figural group sculpture apparently depicting a military charge in modern context. By Outsider/Brutalist Artist Franklin E. Wurster. Signed "Frank Wurster" and titled "The Race". Fair/Good condition with one figure having come undone at the soldered joints. Can be resoldered but we'll leave that project to the purchaser. Length of the supporting plinth, 15 inches. Height including plinth, about 11 1/2 inches.
A rare 16th Century AVA Period Limestone Head of Buddha (Burma 1287 - 1752) with sweeping eyebrows and downcast eyes, typical for the Ava period-style, well modeled lips and elongated ears. Carved in high relief as most likely originally set against a back slab. Condition: good except one area of left cheek next to ear shows a little concussion as well as a spot on top of head. This head has been nicely mounted on a black stand. Size: H. 17cm x W. 12cm x D. 10cm, excluding stand.

Large original signed bronze sculpture on wood base by Irma Rothstein (American, born in Russia, 1906-1971). Almost 20" high including base. In excellent original condition. Irma Rothstein was born in Rostoff, Russia, and studied art in Vienna before emigrating to the United States in 1938. She sculpted the busts of celebrities such as George Bernard Shaw, Hermann Broch, Alexandre Gretchaninoff, Ernest Hemingway, etc...

Created in the 1940's in the USA by a German immigrant residing in the Ohio area. Excellent condition. Stands approximately 12" tall on original wooden base with felt backing. This is a true American treasure created with the highest level of German craftsmanship. Stunning piece.
Original bronze sculpture by Constance Freedman (English, 1928-1982). This sculpture is signed "C. Freedman". It measures approximately 6 1/2" tall. It stands on a black enameled wood base which bears a brass plaque with the name of the artist and the title of the piece. Provenance: directly from the artist's nephew. Constance Freedman was an associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (ARBS)...

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a good Thai repousse silver box with burlwood lining, depicting the Thai and Burmese kings in battle during the sixteenth century. Sourced directly from Chiang Mai Thailand in 1990, this is a substantial box of good quality silver. The exterior has been allowed to patinate for 20 years and has taken on the usual dark grey patina typical for sterling silver, but the interior is completely pristine as it has never actually been used...
