This is an excellently and intricately carved boxwood very charming netsuke,made by the native of Ukraine Alexander Derkachenko. It depicts a seated Okame who is laughing as she holds a large Cucumber. Signed in seal form.
Netsuke is stained in tan and brown colors. It measures 1.21 inches (3.1cm) wide, and 1.52 inches (3.8cm) tall. It is in outstanding condition, as may be seen in the posted photos.

Japanese 20th-21ST century doll made by doll artist KUROKAWA KAZUE. The doll is entitled KAERI MICHI, or "The Road Home" or "The Way Home". The doll comes with TOMOBAKO, or original artist signed wooden storage box and wood stand. The doll measures 12" tall by 3 1/2" wide by 5" deep. (nonesu)
Originally conceived as part of a figural group for a larger commission, Charity depicts the doting love of a mother for her two children. Paul Dubois ( 1829 - 1905 ) originally exhibited it at the Salon of 1877. The famed Barbedienne foundry reproduced smaller versions for interior decoration. This particular version is 18", signed Paul Dubois, and stamped with the Foundry mark.
Condition is very good with slight wear of patina to high points such as knee and nose...
