These carvings, which make great paperweights, sold as tourist art in northern, Arctic regions of Canada at mid century remain popular, and a secondary market has evolved. Late 19th century alabaster statue of a lovely maiden. With her arms outstretched she studying a small bump on her finger. Probably Italian, condition is very good with some minor old dings expected with age, but most notable is a large chip on the back side of the base (see last photo). The price has been adjusted accordingly. Having a wonderful patina that only comes with time, this beauty measures about 18 inches high.

Contemporary jadeite carving of a fairy spirit named Liu-Hai. His right hand is holding a three legged frog called ¡°Chan¡±; a string of clouds extends from Chan¡¯s mouth.
