Residing mostly in the central mountainous provinces of Afghanistan where entire villages are cut off by the snow during the winter months, the Hazara have perfected the art of very fine tightly worked brick stitch embroidery ("tar shomar"). This contemporary cushion cover made by Afghan refugees is inspired by traditional Hazara embroidery traditions with their geometric patterns tightly worked into the overall composition. 40 cm x 40 cm.
This beautiful Mezuzah has never been used and is in excellent condition. It has good heft and measures 3 1/2" x 5/8". The front is convex: 3/8". The parchment (and Hebrew) is glass. The back is marked 925.
