A vintage Japanese style Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Kirinoki (Paulownia) woods. Two large full width drawer with two small drawers and sliding doors behind which is a spacious storage area. Horizontal side ribs add visual design and strength to the chest.

Contemporary function would include using it as a sideboard, a cocktail cabinet or an elegant side table.

Here is a well-made and nicely conceived silver pin by an unknown studio jeweler. The triangular base is impressed with a geometric pattern enhanced by oxidized surfaces of various metallic shades. A convex silver disk is mounted on the panel at a jaunty angle for contrast. The pin has a commercial rollover clasp in good working order. The back bears no mark except for a K in a triangle, most likely a maker's mark. It measures just under 2 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches high by 1/4 inch deep...

We just found out that this buckle was designed by Denez for the Autumn/Winter 1970 Yves Saint Laurent season. We found examples from the same series in the book, "Yves Saint Laurent Accessories," by Patrick Mauries. The buckle measures 4 x 5" (10.5 x 12.5 cm). It is made to hold a 2" (5.5 cm) wide belt and has it s original attachment piece. Art Nouveau in style with bronze, copper and gilt tones, it reminds me of some of the metro stations in Paris. A porcelain two handled bowl with applied porcelain flowers and a fruit finial with bold floral decoration combined with gilding. Though the form is likely to be derived from early Meissen, the decoration is much later in tone.
