I believe this likely dates 1980's. It's signed and hallmarked, hand etched, with "Matl Mexico 925 M. Reg 142073 MS-12". When open, the inner length, not including the clasp, is just shy of 17". Heavy and gorgeous, this Matl necklace was produced by Ricardo Salas. Ricardo Salas worked with his aunt, Matilde Poulat. After her death in 1960 he continued producing her designs, as well as his own.

Each of the twenty-two panels have a pyramidal amethyst framed with twelve turquoise cabochons. It's nice and long, measuring 18 1/2" without the tongue portion of the clasp. Width is 13/16". Lays perfectly on the neck.
