From our Indian Subcontinent Collection, a superbly carved sandalwood buddha from the city of Jasailmer in the Rajasthan region of India. This buddha sits in padmasana (interlocking lotus position) upon a double lotus base while displaying vitarka mudra with the right hand, and holding what is probably a kalasa pot in the left hand.

When we travel to collect pieces, we shop with a very discerning eye...

This fine box is made of ivory by the renown, Cape Cod scrimshaw artist, Gerry Dupont. He usually works with the whale tooth; but, sometimes displays his art on / with other pieces. This small box measures 2" x 1 1/2" and is just under 1" deep. The slightly convex top displays Dupont's fine and brilliant, clipper ship art. Dupont is most wellknown for his whale's tooth scrimshaw, but; he also, rarely, works his magic on other pieces...

This contemporary large stone carving is 9” high, 5 ¼” wide and 3” thick. It is very well carved and polished. It depicts four monks (or sages) walking over a wooden bridge. There is huge pine tree beside the river and a group of buildings on the top and around the mountain. The moon and clouds are over the entire scene. It is in excellent condition.
