A hand-crafted wood box from Madagascar, likely for the mid to late 20th century tourist trade, cigar box size, at 8 1/4" by 6 1/4" by 2 1/2" high, the word "Madagascar" spelled out in carefully hand-cut lettering, and the map of the country made of interlocking wood pieces, jigsaw puzzle-style. Different colors and types of wood make the map very interesting, and names of towns and cities are written in black ink. The lid does not completely close.
