Beautifully engraved goldtone sewing etui with original tassel. Inside is a brass thimble and a plastic tube wrapped with 3 different colored threads. The tube unscrews to reveal a safety pin and needles. Marked Austria and in excellent condition, the etui measures 2" long. We thought this would also make a fabulous pill box and could be put on a key chain. Circa 1940's
An ornately carved early 19th century ivory needlecase. This 3" case measures 7/16" wide, and it unscrews to give access to the sewing needles. The carving is particularly fine and this sewing collectable is in excellent condition with no chips, staining, losses, repairs or damage other than a couple of minor age cracks (see pictures). This Gorham sterling tape measure is 1 1/2" in diameter. It is hallmarked Gorham, sterling #18. The tape does move in and out as it should. The release button works as it should. The end of the tape needs a stop.
This thimble has a lovely floral design. It is a size 8, as marked. It is in excellent condition. It has the maker's mark of The Simon's Brothers Company. It's marked U.S.A. with a thimble beneath it. Within the thimble it's marked SBC and then 8 (for its size). It would be a nice addition to any collection. FREE US STANDARD S/H
A Victorian Aesthetic brass dress hem lifter circa 1880. This unusual Victorian design object was made to hold up the hem of a lady's dress. It sounds a little risque, but sometimes you preferred those long skirts not to be near water or mud, as is only sensible. In the Aesthetic design popular at the time (and swans certainly were popular), this solid brass clothing accessory clamps the bottom of the lady's dress with the tongs, which are locked in place by the sliding shield-shaped housing...
A whimsical swirled enamel sewing kit etui with original blue silk tassel, circa 1930, Made in Germany The brass base etui multicolored in shades of gray, white, blue and red, opens to reveal a tiny sewing kit including thread on a spool with a place for needles under the cap and a brass thimble. Size: 2" long. Overall good condition with the exception of some minor enamel loss.
