It appears to likely reference his having been a basketball player at Plains, Georgia High School in the early 1940's; photos of him with the team can be found on the net by googling "jimmy carter basketball". An interesting and scarce item for the collector of the "Beat Generation" memorabilia: an original drawing of a flower and a small self-portrait caricature, on the cover of the famous work "HOWL", (and period color photo of Ginsberg) by major Beat figure ALLEN GINSBERG (1926-1997). Ginsberg is today almost a folk figure, as the American poet who beginning in the 1950's participated in the bi-coastal movement which preceded even the Hippies...

This is a rather whimsical piece of Automobilia......a presentation to Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker, the World War I flying ace, at a special dinner in New York in 1924. The sheet inside the mat measures 11 1/2" by 17 1/2" ( 17 1/4" by 23 1/4" as framed). Written up in a humorous style, the note commends Rickenbacker for his flying victories and makes a number of humorous commentaries contemporary to the times, all referring to his then-budding career as an automobile manufacturer...

For the baseball memorabilia collector, a rare and possibly unique item: a standard white frisbee, inscribed and signed in blue marker by all-time great MICKEY MANTLE. Mantle played major league baseball for the New York Yankees between 1951 and 1968, playing center field and first base. An outstanding switch hitter, he set many records in the sport and is certainly considered among its most famous players of all time. He died in 1995 after a long retirement...

Original movie poster, 1963, for the film "The Stripper", starring then-young Joanne Woodward, and Robert Webber, Louis Nye, and Gypsy Rose Lee. The poster measures 39 1/2" by 26" (45" by 32" framed, behind easy-ship Plexi). There is hand-numbering at bottom right, "63/123", and I do not know what to make of that since this would been unlikely to have been printed in such a low edition...

This is a heavy-for-its size (about six pounds) sculpture in a heavy, dark wood like mahogany (ironwood?), measuring about 10" high by about 5" on a side. In addition to the dark heavy wood, there are carved teeth of bone, and carefully applied white paint detail in the eyes. Carved into the base are the words "Ngambela Mataa". I have googled the term and it seems to be applied to a figure who was in Zambia in the late 19th century to as late as 1928, when there was some murder there...
