Objects from several periods came together to create this special crucifix. It is hand made and one of a kind. The wood was found in a New Mexico homestead dating from 1880 - 1900. The knot above Christ forms a natural halo. The Jesus figure is solid brass and dates from the 1930'S. The three "nails" attaching the figure are black onyx with gold bezels. An albumen photograph circa 1880 of a man feeding a group of dogs gathered at his feet. In the lower left printed in the negative, Abdullah Freres. 515” and in the lower right, “Les Chiens des rues.” The image is 7 7/8 inches (20 cm) by 10 1/8 inches (25.7 cm). It is presently corner mounted in a large mat 17 inches (43 cm) by 14 inches (35.5 cm). The tones are rich and the contrast good.

Condition: In a raking light three lines that look like partial creases are visible...

Lower Paleolithic, probably Heidelberg Man, proto-axe on a pebble. Flint, in excellent condition, height 4 1/8". Legal find from Reculver Cliffs, Kent, UK. A very old, simple hard-hammer percussion proto-axe. The pebble itself is almost entirely intact with the removal of a few flakes to give a chopping edge. In my opinion the missing flake on the right side of the lithic (picture to the left in the image) is later damage. Otherwise intact with a sea-tossed soft patina...
