Moroccan stromatolite fossil well preserved in a nice red sandstone believed to date from about 600 million years ago.These microbial fossils are one of Earth's earliest records of life. The earliest known stromatolite fossils are between 3.5 - 2.75 billion years old in the Precambrian period. A lovely Neanderthal scraper on a flake. Flint, height 3 1/8". Excellent condition with a beautiful, well worn sea patina. This was an auction purchase, with no collection history. Given the color of the flint, the typology and the specific type of patination I believe this lithic is from Reculver Cliffs area, Kent, England. Boldly and simply executed with a few master retouches, the scraper also exhibits excellent ergonomics. Dates to approximately 120,000-60,000 BCE.

This is a diminutive Victorian crystal decanter of oval shape with rich foliate scrolled etching above one row of cut hollows and an applied foot. It is pint size, and has an unusual diamond cut neck with a flared rim topped by a molded ribbed medallion stopper, unmarked but possibly Baccarat. Condition: decanter in very good condition; slight wear to base; stopper has a 3/8" chip. Measurements: 10 _" high x 4 _" diam.

Sterling silver flask that holds 1/2 pint. It is hand-engraved on the front with a design and the wording "little brown jug". It measures almost 6.5" tall including the top and 4.25" at its widest. The top unscrews but there is a ring holding it in place so it cannot be lost. It is in great condition and the overall weight is 173 grams. Circa 1910, it is marked on the bottom (please see the pictures.)

Three solid Paleolithic scrapers from the Suwannee River/Withlacoochee River basin area of northern Florida. Chert, heights between 2 1/4" and 2 3/4". A First American Edition published in 1894 by the Century Co. The original green blind stamped cloth boards feature a gilt elephant and tiger to the front and rear. The boards show some wear with modest spotting both on the front and back ( please refer to photos). The book is slightly cocked, and the pages are uncut with top edge gilt. There is a spot on the front paste down and also on few pages. The Content page has a small tear. Black and white illustrations. 303pp.

Good signs of use-wear on both edges, leading me to feel this was used more as a cleaver type of tool. The form is fairly eccentric, and the piece was truncated along the top edge in the photo.
