A group of 5 Neolithic tools from the Paris basin region, France. All in excellent shape with varying ground patinas. All are flint, lengths between 2 1/2" and 3 1/4". The first 4 to the left are flake tools, the lithic on the right is a bifacially worked point or blade. Though it appears broken at the bottom, this is a purposely added truncation, indicating that the piece may have originally been hafted with a wooden or bone handle...

This large lithic is made from a slightly softer type of the Jasper commonly found at Fontmaure. I am not positive regarding identification on this particular lithic- it may be Neanderthal or it may be upper Paleolithic/early Homo Sapiens...
A group of 4 Neolithic flint cores recovered from a mortar practice range in Lackford, Burg St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England. Heights between 1 1/2"- 2 1/2". Legal finds, and surprisingly in excellent condition with no damage. All four are lovely, sculptural pieces made from a rich grey flint. Third from the left would be considered a pyramidal core. Approximately dating to 4500-2500 BCE.
A group of 4 burins from Fontmaure, France. Jasper, heights between 1 3/4"- 2 1/4". All in excellent condition. Legal surface finds. The third from the left could also be classified as a convergent scraper. They could be Neanderthal or Upper Paleolithic (Aurignacian or Gravettian) Homo Sapiens, or a mix. The 2 lithics on the left and the one to the far right exhibit clear burin blows used to make the burin tip. Approximate dates would be between 50,000-22,000 BCE.

All are legal surface finds. Unusual group of smaller but very thick and sturdy flake tools. The two lithics to the left have complex scraper edges and pronounced notches. The lithic to the right is a burin or borer with a very masterfully done abrupt scraper edge. All date to 80,000-50,000 BCE.

4 beautifully retouched Neanderthal tools from Fontmaure, France. Heights between 1 7/8"-2 1/2". Jasper, legal surface finds. This grouping is a set of small scrapers, 3 with burins, that are all particularly finely retouched. Retouches vary from extremely refined to a slight denticulate, or saw-like, edge. All with fine ground patina. Dating to 80,000-50,000 BCE.
