A lovely little book written by Booth Tarkington and with colored illustrations by Ruth Sypherd Clements. The cover features a blind stamped holly design and gilt lettering. Published by Harper & Brothers 1909. Copyright page indicates October 1909 (possibly a first edition). The illustrations are crisp and the booth is in fine condition.
An early edition by Rudyard Kipling. The green linen boards have an embossed Viking ship design with gilt lettering (somewhat faded). The pages are uncut and the boards show light wear. Page 41 has toning where "Bobs" (poem by Kipling from a newspaper)was inserted. Light foxing.There is also an old water stain on the top of the title page and first few pages. Inscribed...
Light staining on the boards and textblock otherwise acceptable.
