Very old and nicely carved black mask, of typical conical coiffe and slightly smiling feminine face. Wood, fine patina. Africa, Gabon, Punu Peoples, Tsangui sub-group. Height: 13 1/4" (34 cm). Old accident on left side of coiffe, erosion due to age, otherwise very good condition. Ex. old French collection.

A Zohiko covered rice bowl. Colorful leaf decoration sparsely applied on black ground with almost iridescent effect with gold and silver maki-e and red details. Zohiko mark in gold lacquer inside the bowl's foot rim. 20th century. Bowl diameter 5 1/16 inches (12.86 cm). The bowl has two small losses to the lacquer along the foot and one small loss to the rim. The cover is in good condition. The lacquer otherwise being in good condition with no distress or wear of note...

A large Buddhist scroll painting of the Amitabha triad where Amitabha is attended by Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta. The bodhisattvas are adorned with elaborate accessories often seen in images of bodhisattvas. The Buddha, is wearing a red garment painted with medallion like patterns to make the cloth appear like brocades. Age: 20th century. Size: height 111.5" width 54.5"

A fairly large Korean style Buddhist painting portraying the image of the Water Moon Avalokitesvara or Suwol Gwaneum in Korean. The Avalokitesvara is dressed in vestments and accessories common to the figure of a Bodhisattva and has the water vessel which offers blessings to all sentient beings. The bodhisattva is attended by a boy figure known as shan nanzi who often seen in pictorial and textual depictions in East Asian Buddhism. Age: 20th century. Size: height 105.5" width 53"

A young woman dressed in a white robe with red hakama pants is holding a folding fan and is posed to do a dance. This dress is often known as Shirabyoshi where these were sacred dances offered to the gods. The shirabyoshi figure evokes the Heian and Kamakura aesthetic and the legends contemporary to the era that portray the Shirabyoshi. Work is signed and sealed by an artist named Nanko. China, 20th century, jade seal surmounted by a seated lion, stone of dark green color, uncarved. Size: Height of this fine carving is 4 1/2 inches, in very good condition.

Huanghuali altar table decorated with carved decorations. The altar table has a square maize design repeated around the base of the table. The legs are decorated with carved panels of dragons climbing through clouds. The Huanghuali table top is very beautiful with strong grain patterns. Late Republic period. The size measures 33.5" tall 64" long 16" deep.

Republic period, circa 1950, carved jade miniature of a sage pinching it's ear lobe. The jade stone is shaped like a pebble. There are two medallions on the top of the shoulders of the stone. It measures 1.5" by 1.5" by .6".
