Old (1930's)Japanese Mixed Metal Fan Shaped Screen with Zhong Kui Signed

The overall is 15.55 inches (39.6 cm ) long by 20.5 inches (51 cm) wide. The fan shape plaque is 8.6 inches (21.8 cm) long by 17.8 inches (45.4 cm) wide. The total weight is 4.1 Lb.

The screen is tarnished and surface wears and scratches. The board has tears, surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Early Showa period Japanese black silk woman's formal kimono with long sleeves decorated on the bottom of the front, back, and interior with a continuous ukiyo-e scene featuring commoners engaged in various activities in a village. Five family mon (crests) are at the shoulder area. The lining is red. Circa 1930s. Measures 48 1/2" sleeve tip to sleeve tip and about 49 1/2" long. Very good overall condition. There are some areas of pigment transference and there are a few tiny foxing spots...

This 3 piece porcelain desk set was produced in Germany by the Royal Berlin Porcelain Manufactory, or KPM, in the 1920s. It has an impressed date marking that is illegible. The set consists of a rectangular tray, an ink blotter and inkwell with insert and lid. The finial on the lid of the ink well is the head of a stylish lady. She has a bit of the “flapper” look with bobbed hair and jewelry. The borders are painted to look like drapes with hanging tassels...

From a local estate comes a pair of very, very detailed Tibetan thangka paintings, one measuring 24" by 19 3/4" in its gold frame and the other 21 1/2" by 16 1/4". I am not a specialist in art of the Indian subcontinent and the Himalayas or Tibetan Plateau region, but I understand these to be highly symbolic religious works of that geographic origin. The former owner was said to have collected these on one of her trips to India...

This is a large vase, and rather heavy, 21 1/2" long, 11" across, signed with a "P" in the chalky base. I've examined it closely and find no chips on rim or anywhere else. The piece is entirely hand thrown and decorated/painted, and quite Arts and Craftsy in feeling. I am a paintings specialist so this is somewhat out of my league. I did send images to Rago Auction in New Jersey and they were unable to identify the maker. It was found here in Southern California...

It has chips at the lid's inside rim, rubbing of golds, crazing and glaze crack at the bottom, and surface wears (as seen in the photos).

German 800 silver wine trolly nef, ca 1920. A 3-mast galleon with billowing sales and complicated rigging. Gun ports open and cannons ready to fire. Lots of deck action, too with fighting swordsman and fallen sailors. Holds a special cargo because wood-style hull is a wine trolly. Figurehead spigot with threaded plug, and dolphin side mounts with rotating wheels for cruising across the table...

This is a matching pair of decorative prints, 14" by 9 1/2", in thin simple black frames, the prints appearing to be on thin tissue type paper, laid on boards. I am not knowledgeable about Japanese prints, but I would guess these to be of 20th century age. They appear to be in some places unevenly discolored, and browned by age (though not as much as the photos might indicate), but perhaps the paper was brownish to begin with. At the edges there are some losses and stains. If you are looking...

Interesting plate or dish, diameter 10 7/8", about one inch deep, with "WADE 333 Calif-U.S.A." on the bottom. I am a fine art dealer so pottery, china and ceramics are not my specialty, but Wade of California it seems was a mid century operation in Southern California---a part of the rich tradition of California pottery. Condition is excellent with no chips. There is a small irregularity in the glaze showing as two tiny white spots adjacent to each other, but this is clearly from the manufact...

Decoy of a Canada Goose, dimensions roughly 28" by 9" by 8", weight 8 1/2 pounds, unsigned. I am not able to attribute this to any particular carver. As an art dealer I cannot claim to be a specialist in duck and goose decoys, but I think this has some age, circa mid 20th century. There is convincing wear, and a deep split in the wood along the left side, as if from the wood drying over time. A fine piece of folk art for the home. Came from a high end Beverly Hills estate.
