Pretty set of eight bone china coasters by Royal Worcester. Each has a hand painted transfer-printed floral bouquet design. The outer edges are ridged and the rims are gilt. In addition to their original purpose, the coasters could also be used for nut dishes or even butter pats.

This 6-3/4 x 3-1/2" box stands 1-1/2" tall and it is probably one of the many Printemps pieces which all have similar and slightly variant floral designs. Beautiful lobed Kutani yaki dish in Yoshidaya style, modern. Decoration of camellia in white, aubergine, green, speckled yellow and gilt. The back with a character in gilt, possibly Qiu, meaning Autumn. It is also defined by Graesse in his classical work about pottery and porcelain marks as from the village of Shinomine in Arita. Diameter "6 ¼ / 16 cm, height "1 ¼ / 3 cm. Condition: fine.

A green glazed hand thrown pottery vase signed on the bottom, “W N/OWEN” (Walter Nelson Owen 1895- 1981) with the original retail paper label reading, “Hand Made For/PETER MURPHEY/HWY. 191 . P. O. Box 653/HENDERSONVILLE, N.C.” Peter Murphey ran a small ad in The Transylvania Times, of Brevard N.C. June 3, 1965 advertising a continuous Craftsmans Fair at his address. A long time potter and owner of The Pine State Pottery started signing by hand his pottery in 1970...

A work of studio pottery, found in Southern California, the color a rich earthy brown, the vessel pierced intentionally by the artist to create naturalistic openings, similar to the distinctive style of Peter Voulkos (1924-2002). The piece measures 7 1/2" high by 5" diameter. The piece is signed on the bottom "Balvin 79". Surprisingly I do not see a studio potter by this name, but the artist was obviously talented and also familiar with Voulkos' acclaimed work.

These four Minton Gold Ancestral dessert plates (#S 595) are quite handsome indeed. Each are marked on the back and also each has the Minton imprint. The brown-red transfer decoration of flowers and leaves is painted with turquoise and pink enamel to accent the flowers. Each plate is trimmed in gold and is in excellent condition. Measures 7 7/8" across the scalloped rim. Production dates: 1944-1976. Book price $45.00 a plate.

LIBERTY BLUE by STAFFORDSHIRE was made circa 1975 - 1981.

The teapot has the usual crazing and one chip on the underside of the lid. Pictures 3 & 4 try to show the underside lip and the view from the top to give you a better view of the actual damage.

A lovely signed "Hand Made in Greece Ikaros Pottery B420" with a small 4 at the bottom. In excellent condition though the rim has a slight imperfection original to the piece that is not noticeable except to the touch. The piece measures 8" (h) x 7" (w). The Ikaros factory was located in Rhodes,Greece and ceased production in 1988.

This masterpiece bowl was produced by the master himself, Peter Anderson, founder of the renowned Shearwater Pottery, in the waning years of his 56 year illustrious career.

Late 1960s early 1970s ELC marked "Roke's Drift" red and blue glazed Zulu plate with a raku tupe glaze , the body seems to have some animal hair mixed in the clay body. I visited the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC a little more than a year ago and saw some really creative ceramics with leather incorporated into the composition among related, sculptural works. It did make a spontaneous and lasting impression that led me to recognize and purchase a wonderful and unusual work by the same hand found in an antiques and collectibles market.

These "Liberty Blue" cup and saucer sets are 2 5/8". They have a blue and white floral rim . The scene in the saucer is that of the Old North Church. The scene on the cup is that of the Paul Revere riding through town. They are in excellent condition.

English Coalport Spode "Italian" Transferware Blue and White notched corner shape Plate, 1980's, 8 1/2" diameter, Cows in the river with farmers in front of Castle. The condition is good.

A finely sculpted bust of a young man with exceptional patina of finely blended earth and bronze pigments. Physical condition is superb, but a small amount of finish has worn around the left eye and on the top of the head exposing a green substrate, yet harmonious with the earthen finish. Signed on the back of the neck. We have been unable to decipher the signature; yet the work speaks well for the unidentified artist. Dimension: 13" h
