A Large Original Sign for "Mudjekeewis A Camp for Girls" in Lovell, Maine that operated from 1919-1969. Measures about 37 1/4" by 31 1/4" by 1 3/4" and weighs about thirty pounds. Two sided, both shown. There is a vintage photo of this sign in place on the website of the Lovell Maine Historical Society. Great memorabilia and folk art.
A mid 19th century American stencil theorem painting of a woven basket filled with fruit, measuring 13 1/2" by 15" (17 1/2" by 18 3/4" in old, period or certainly antique at the least folky dark wood frame with gold inner portion). A circa 1950's label of Braxton Picture Frames, E. 58th St., New York, remains. Braxton's 1938 catalog is retained in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of art. This is a great piece of classic American folk art...

Antique cloth doll with center seam face, nice pinched nose, bead eyes with feather stitched eyebrows. She has a tiny red floss stitched mouth. She has leather arms in poor condition but they really look original, long shaped legs and turned feet. Her body is skillfully sewn and is firmly stuffed with cotton. She has a very large derriere that allows her to sit easily. She is made with black sateen fabric. She has a few mends but is in good solid condition. Her dress is sewn and is in shreds...
This doll has a lot going for her. (The lines that you see on her face are two seams and the rest are slight ripples in the fabric that are catching the light, there are no tears). She is all original and she is an older woman with gray hair. She has a tired expression on her face but her face is still kindly looking. Her dress is a gauze type of material with a black and tan flower design. She has a slip and pantaloons. Her arms and legs are jointed. She is stuffed with cotton medium firm...

Decoy of a Canada Goose, dimensions roughly 28" by 9" by 8", weight 8 1/2 pounds, unsigned. I am not able to attribute this to any particular carver. As an art dealer I cannot claim to be a specialist in duck and goose decoys, but I think this has some age, circa mid 20th century. There is convincing wear, and a deep split in the wood along the left side, as if from the wood drying over time. A fine piece of folk art for the home. Came from a high end Beverly Hills estate.
Found in Freeport, Maine, this is a PAIR of circa 1870 American drawings, (possibly a bit earlier), the first of General George Washington on a prancing horse, the second of a cut glass compote overflowing with fruit. Each measures 11 3/4" by 8 3/4" inside the mats, 16" by 12" overall, one of the mats deep maroon, the other, black. They are unframed, taped on the reverse to the mats at the edges...

This one has touches of red paint, “GHM MA CHAMPAGNE” stenciled on both sides and handholds notched into the slats at the top. These boxes enhance a country provincial decorating style while functioning as split log holders for the fireplace or the perfect place to toss your wet or snowy boots in winter. DIMENSIONS: 15 ½” high x 27"wide x 19 1/2"deep.
I have always really liked the black bottle doll doorstops. They are something I keep more than I sell. I am offering of few of mine for sale so here is the second one.
This bottle doll with her head tipped to one side and her mouth, down turned and barely visible is wearing a red polka dot dress with a shear cap and apron. I have only had one other doll with a secret and the story goes like this...
Hewn from one piece of wood, our porcine friend leisurely resided for many years on the enclosed back porch of historic Coolmore Plantation, Taroboro, NC (see last photo of home). In very good condition, she does have some age cracks, but is very solid. Measures 21 inches long x 13" high x 12" and weights 21 lbs. Age unknown so we are listing as vintage.
In a long tradition of so-called "woolies", pictures of marine scenes wrought in wool by hand, this is a work showing a 19th century clipper that looks like the famous "Old Ironsides", now a floating museum in Boston. Note the American flag at the stern. The unframed work, wrapped around a board, measures 9 1/2" by 13 1/2". The age is to me uncertain; I note the later-looking lattice structure seen on the reverse, and the four digit number "1762", possibly just a reference number...
