A Persian Shahsavan bag dating from around 1900. The face is woven in wool in Sumakh flatweave technique, showing different repeating ornaments. The back is made of stripes in Kilim. Fabulous sassy pouch and totally intact, a major feat for a little purse that ancient! Large blue faceted beads, two levels of tiny silver bead fringe and an eight strand long tassel. Great lining and metal drawstring. Some lucky person danced the Charleston with this little purse swinging from her wrist. Diameter of purse fully opened 4 1/2", length of purse 5", length of tassel 2 1/2", wristband tightens automatically by metal drawstring to fit any size wrist.
