This hooked rug of stems of flowers could not be more charming and cheerful. The red background gives a great lift to the entire composition. The stalks of flowers have a nice abstracted quality.

This Hit or Miss hooked rug combines an open center pattern framed by a more structured border. The huge variety of colors makes it adaptable to virtually any environment. The rug measures 70" x 85". It appears to be in un-used condition. It was made by Elda Dickey of Portage, Pennsylvania; circa 1930.

This hooked rug is made to look like the Log Cabin pattern usually associated with quilts. One can see this rug in several ways; there are five light and dark blocks; pinwheels and hourglasses. A tightly hooked rug, American, perhaps Amish, from the 1930’s. Wool on burlap with hand attached black cotton backing. 29 inches long by 22 inches wide. The unusual free hand pattern shows black stars with pale blue crosses in an integrated geometric pattern.
Condition: Overall excellent condition with one professional darned repair on the border between one star and cross (see close up image)...
A brightly colored folky pictorial hand hooked wool on burlap rug, a winter scene with snow flakes and a sleigh flying over a roof topped by a weather vane, from the estate of Grace Wright (1905-1993) who hooked many rugs throughout her adult life, 22" X 36", expertly cleaned and in excellent original condition, ready for display.
