Netsuke carved by Ryoshu (born in 1912) - one of the best Japanese netsuke carvers of the 20th century. Netsuke represents a doll of Daruma (founder of Zen Buddhism) enveloped in monastic robe, and his eyes can pop in and out. Perfectly captured facial expression, beautifully incised and etched facial hair and 3 flowering chrysanthemums on his robe. It appears that the artist etched a different design on every piece of this model of his - see the other Darumas by Ryoshu on my site...
Embroidered in vivid turquoise silk floss with a top stitch of golden silk floss, this woman's shawl ("phulkari") from Swat Valley measures 97 cm x 198 cm and is in excellent condition. The designs are stylized rosettes with densely embroidered borders and a medallion motif in the center. Black is the dominant color for the background of Swati embroideries, which share many motifs in common with the embroidery from Hazara district...
Typical of the mountainous Swat valley in northern Pakistan, this cushion cover ("thakia" in Urdu) is distinguished by a purple cotton background embroidered in a bright pink, with yellow and sage highlights. This amazing piece measures 14 1/8 inches x 30 inches (36.1 cm x 76.2 cm). Swati embroidery patterns are traditionally handed down from mother to daughter and these are the typical color contrasts. Depicting curling horned and star patterns, this wedding textile from the Hazara district of Pakistan, in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as NWFP) is densely embroidered in silk floss thread on a black cotton ground. It measures 70 x 77.5 cm and is in excellent condition. The motifs are curvilinear and embroidered in dark red in a combination of satin stitch and long and short stitch, outlined with a top stitch of golden silk floss. Estimated age: late 20th century.
Chinese brown ceramic figure of a duck sitting with one wing raised, head turned back to preen feathers. Intricately incised details of feathers. Decorated all over with tiny white glaze dots. The eyes and bill of duck are beautifully glazed.

This beautiful shibori (tie-dye) is already cut to make a haori jacket. The skinny pieces under the arms are cut and attached by someone who knows what he is doing. It has not gone through Yunoshi, the process to stretch shibori using steam. The size of this gown is extremely small at this moment because a regular haori (short jacket) roll is used to make into shibori fabric. 36 inches x 16 1/2 inches long with 9 inches hemming tacked inside...
This is a pair of vintage Uzbek tent or yurt decorative hangings from Northern Afghanistan, mid to late 20th century. Each piece measures 11.43 cm x 63.5 cm. Decorative hangings such as this are usually suspended at the entrance of a yurt, and sometimes placed between piled up quilts. Solid embroidery in cross stitch in cotton thread, ending in wrapped, beaded cords with metallic trinkets.

Early 20th century North India, Indian Muslim women necklace with solid silver enameled (Meenakari), Islamic amulet (Ta'wiz-Muska). Case of cylindrical form elaborately decorated on each site with peacock and floral sprays.
The amulet’s elongated shape indicates that a piece of paper rolled as a scroll may have been kept inside the body of the amulet. The text likely would have included Qur’anic verses written in tiny ghubari, or dust script...
Dating circa 1930-40 and in excellent condition, this Chinese export cabbage leaf pattern bowl measures 8 inches across and 3" high.
