A richly patinated carved wood figure of a seated drum playing musician. This item was made in Bali, circa 1900-1940, during the first half of the 20th Century. Condition - very good - there is a small chip to the head-dress (please view enlargement 11) - no further damage and no repairs. 18cm (7 inches) wide; 32cm (12.5 inches) high.

On the back is carved the seal mark of Jing Fu who was active in China during the Republic period (1912-1949) and who was the first student of the famous Huang Yang wood carver Zhu Zichang...

A bowl, made in imitation of late Qing Imperial style, with two roundels - one depicting a five clawed Dragon and the other a Phoenix - both separated by two iron red bats and above stylized breaking waves. The base carries what is probably the factory mark which, in Pinyin, reads "Jiu Jiang Hui Kang Chu Pin". This item was made in China in the 1940s during the late Republic period. A magnificent and detailed noh mask known as Shojo, which is used specifically for the play that contains the same name as the mask. Shojo originated in China as a mythical beast and was imported to Japan as a sake loving creature. In Noh theater, the play is performed for festive and auspicious occassions where the character is dressed in a colorful noh costume and wearing a red wig. Depending on the school of Noh, a jar with a ladle at times are used for the performance...

This ornate Siamese statue depicts a nobleman kneeling wearing court formal attire. A few areas of wear on the gilding as would be expected from handling a piece of this age. Embroidered in silk thread on a fine cotton linen ground, this little purse is from Badakhshan province in northeastern Afghanistan and measures 11.3 x 13.5 cm. Badakhshan province is mostly inhabited by Tajiks and is the home of the world's most important lapis mines. The embroidery technique is a combination of brick stitch and long and short stitch, depicting chevrons and floral motifs...

Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase. Showa period, circa 1930-1950. The body of the vase is red with a pink chrysanthemum amongst white peonies with a green orchid. The red color, known as akasuke, is difficult to produce. Only the most skilled artisans can create the rich ruby red color and the transparent element where the motif on the vase shows through the glaze. Excellent condition, no scratches or dents. Manufacturer's stamp on the base. It measures 8.5" tall, 2.5" opening, base 2.75" base...

Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase from the Showa Period, circa 1930-1950s. Red body with plum blossoms on a branch. The red color used on the vase is known as, akasuke and is thought to be the most difficult color to produce and only the most skilled artisans can successfully produce its ruby red color. To create its color, gold is mixed with a glass like substance and is applied to the object and fired at a low temperature. It measures 5" tall, 1.25" opening, 2" base...

Ducai flared vase made of porcelain, Chien Lung mark, Ching Dynasty, late Republic Period, 20th century. Decorated with scrolling vines and flowers with fans, medallions, and other items throughout. There are two geometrical registers that decorate the base and middle registers. It measures 6.25" at the mouth, 5"6/8" at base, 13.25" tall.

Chinese Leaded Crystal Quanyin with wood stand. The Quanyin is beautifully carved. The wood base is carved as a lotus blossom. Base and figure can be separated. Circa mid 20th century. The figure measures 10" tall, with the base 11.5" tall.

It depicts a large tea house bustling with people; outside, a mother with her children, a bearded man, and other civilians. An interesting tubular shaped Mashiko ware vase by Hasegawa Tsugio. The vase is done in the ash glaze method where the ash that circulates inside the kiln covers the fired piece creating interesting patterns and colors, late 20th century. Size: Height: 8" Length: 5" Width: 2.25"

Yuteki black slips down over the pourous, crackled white of this bold work by Taniguchi Ryozo enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 8-1/2 inches (21.5 cm) tall and in excellent condition. The box is darkened with age.

A simple, yet elegant monochrome painting of bamboo with a poetic inscription below stating how the groves of bamboo creates shade and the new sprouts in spring are inviting invoking a sense of great virtue through the bamboo. This very well carved and polished horn carving of a Zun (Chinese traditional libation wine vessel) is an early or mid - 20th century product. It is 5 ½” high, 6 ½” wide and 3 ½” thick (both measured from the top), the round bottom is 2” in diameter. Twelve stylized Bixie (辟邪) and different ritual bronze patterns were deeply carved into the entire body. The artist’s name is illegibly carved on the bottom. It is in great condition.

This mid-20th century carved wood incense holder is 12” high and 2” in diameter. There are four dragons carved in openwork relief coiled around the cylindrical body of the incense holder. It is in good condition.

A beautifully shaped green vessel by Miyashita Zenju enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It stands 10 inches (25.5 cm) tall, 8-1/2 inches (22 cm) diameter and is in fine condition.
Zenju (1901-1968) studied pottery in Japan, Korea and China, and is held in the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art as well as the Kyoto National Museum. Work by the artist was exhibited pre-war at the Bunten and Nitten National Exhibitions as well as the 1939 and 1940 World Exposition...

Early to mid 19th century game box, holding a box of bone playing tokens plus two lacquered wooden trays on the left and 8 sculpted lacquer trays on the right. Generally the box is in good condition. The outside has some fading, age wear and chips. The legs have had some repairs. The interior is in very good condition. Dimensions: 32x16x12 cm.

This is attributed to Wu Changshuo calligraphy style and signed as his work, can't confirm as his handwriting and calligraphy, it is old to me, please consult expert before ordering, we are no expert in this area but it looks good to decorate as it has the elegance. Quite badly damaged.

This very well designed and carved overlay glass snuff bottle is a 1970’~1980”s product. The red over bubbled milky white snuff bottle is 2 ¾” high, 2 1/8” wide and 1” thick. Both sides have the same design which depicts a pond scene with carp, butterfly, a lotus blossom and leaves. It has an orange carnelian cap. It is in great condition.

This carved dark hair crystal snuff bottle is a 1970’~1980”s product. It is 3 ¾” high, 1 3/8” wide and 1” thick. It is carved as a bamboo stalk with small branches and leaves around it. There are two dragonflies resting on the stalk. It has an agate cap. It is very well hollowed and it is in great condition.
