Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print depicting a pavilion in the woods near a pond by Inui Tai (b. 1929). The artist was active from the end of the 1940s through the 1980s and was heavily influenced by the work of Shiko Munakata. Paper size: 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" (image: 9 3/8" x 11 3/8"). Very good overall condition with some wrinkling to the fine paper and minor soiling to the bottom margin edge. An amusing tonkotsu, a container for tobacco, skillfully carved in wood as a man emerging from a basket! His clasped hands pierced to allow a suspension cord, not present. The eyes are inlaid and the base has a mother of pearl signature tablet.

A delicate antique Chinese Tea Box with exquisitely decorated gilt relief. It has a pewter box lining with a glass knob. The lacquer shows images of a pavillion setting with trees and a border of flowers. The pewter box has a primitive etching of scholars with rocks and grasses. The interior top is lacquer with two gold fronds.

A very impressive African tribal Senufo bird statue measuring 61.75 inches high with a 25" wingspan. The bird's wings are carved in relief with images of lizards, crocodiles, turtles and birds. The body beneath the beak has a carving of a large lizard. The rest of the bird features repeated geometric carvings on front and back.
