Exceptional pair of African wood carvings from the Nyamwezi tribes of Central Tanzania, the larger measuring 40 1/2" high, including stand, which is 6" x 6" square and about 1 1/2" high.. A large cow hide blanket, painted in the style of western Native America rock art or primitive Australian aboriginal art, including an abstracted human figure and geometric forms, origin probably Africa, extreme dimensions 72" by 64". The age is difficult to determine. This reminds so much of rock art sprinkled about arid parts of the American west, and Native American painted hide blankets, but I do not believe it to be of Native American or Australian origin...
