A 4-3/4" tall splint and sweetgrass woven Native American Northeastern embroidery or sewing thread lidded basket c1900-30. This 5" diameter Penobscot or Passamaquoddy basket retains traces of its original green and red colour and the sweetgrass still has a pleasant aroma. It is in very good condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a small split on one thin horizontal splint on the shoulder (see enlargement 4) and the fading of the external colour...

A Mi'kmaq beadwork floral wall hanging from 1900-1930. This bright and cheerful vintage East Coast Micmac 4-7/8" diameter wall hanging features a flower basket motif, with yellow, light and deep green, red, orange, brown and black beads sewn on what looks like mustard coloured felt, and sewn to/backed with a deerskin backing. The hanging strap is in brown shell-shaped beads (they look like small painted shells or seeds) with green and yellow beads...

A vintage block printed fabric wall hanging by the Canadian Inuit artist Agnes Nanogak Goose (1925-2001). This highly regarded Holman artist was famous for her ink drawings and as a print maker, and she also produced block printed textiles, including cotton burlap. She was the first Inuit artist to receive and honorary degree from Mt. St. Vincent university. This wall hanging measures 24" x 14-3/4"...

This cradleboard was made by Cecilia Cuthair of the Mountain Ute Indians in the 70's probably as a child's toy. There is no papoose or doll inside...but it is stuffed with cloth covered newspaper to keep its shape. The front is soft cream colored deer or elk skin (brain tanned) with beaded trim. The rear is covered with animal skin.

The cradle board is 20 inches long and 8 inches at the widest point. Condition is pristine.

A pottery bowl or olla by the matriarch of the Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico, Lucy Martin Lewis (c.1899-1992). Circa 1940. This wide mouth pottery bowl was hand decorated in red and black colored slips with geometric designs inspired by the earlier Mimbres pottery. Though the vessel is unsigned, it is attributed by its decoration to Lucy Lewis, one of the most respected Acoma women potters...

A vintage North American tribal beadwork knife sheath with colourful applied beadwork on a fringed moose hide c1930s-50s. This 13-1/2" x 7-1/2" (including fringe) knife sheath has a tall loop for hanging off of a belt; the stiff applied lighter colour hide section at the front of the sheath is attached with twisted fine brass wire. It is a densely beaded item, and spells out "Jack" in white beads, and it has iridescent purple/blue, orange, dark and light green beads...

A silver charm/pendant or talisman. The bottom metal has light depressions where it appears to have been flattened before being added to the piece. No marks and untested. 1-1/4" x 1-1/2"

Very large, early handmade painted animal skin and wood TLINGIT drum with beater by ODIN LONNING(born 1953 in Alaska), c.1970's. Huge, it measures 20 1/2" in diameter by almost 3" deep. The skin covered beater is 16 1/2 long. Has both killerwhale and thunderbird design. All hand-sewn Eskimo doll probably made sometime during the 60's. She is dressed in nicely detailed fur parka with fox trimmed hood and has hand-painted facial features on leather face with fur hair She is 11 inches high and in good condition

A colourful and vintage c1950s-60s Native American beaded bolo tie. It is signed "MRS. LIZZIE (illegible)" on the deersking backing, and the glass beads on this 38" long tie (19" when worn) include green, pink, white, red, orange, yellow amber, metallic and various other colours; it is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some minor stretching of the elastic retaining strap on the deerskin back...

A Zuni Polychromed Wood Kachina Group, depciting three Koyemsi, or Mud Heads, of classic articulated form and decoration, one, carrying Kianakwe Shikan’ona, White Kianakwe of the East on its back, dressed in a cloth manta, the white painted case mask with concentric bands in numerous colors with white dotted details, the other, carrying a bowl in his hand; possibly a depiction of the Kianakwe Ceremony.
