This Chinese ivory carving of an open clam is a mid 20th century product. There are nine people resting, walking or sitting on a cart inside the clam. They are surrounded by pine trees. Originally, this was a Japanese theme concerning the “dreams of a clam.” Later, the Chinese adopted this clever design. There are some sea creatures sitting on the top of the clam. This well carved ivory incense burner with hard wood fitted base is a mid 20th century product. It is 5 1/8” high (with base is 6 ¼” high), 4” wide and 2 ¼” thick. Two dragons with clouds are carved on the body and a big dragon is carved on the cover. The handles with loose rings are carved into dragon forms as well. The three legs are carved as animal claws. There are two honorable seals “Qian Long.” One is on the bottom of the burner; the other is on the bottom of the cover...

The very well carved young beauty is a 1930’s product. She holds a fan in one hand and a small musical instrument in the other. It is 8 ¾” high (with base is 10 ½” high) 2 ½” wide and 2” thick. There is an old repair on her left hand. Aside from that, it is in great condition.

This pair of 20th century Chinese carved ivory statues are about 12 ¼” high, 3” wide and 2 ¾” thick. They depict a standing sage and lady. The sage’s left hand carries a stick, a double gourd wine container is tied on the stick. His right hand holds a goose in front of his chest. The lady’s right hand carries a branch of lotus blossom; her left hand holds a lotus shape pouch with a tassel. The marks on the bottom (Da Ming and Kang Xi) are honorable marks...

This carved ivory statue of a girl holding a flower basket was carved around 1970. It is 7 inches tall (with the base, it is 8 ¼ inches high), 2 inches wide and 1 ½ inches thick. Her left hand is holding a woven flower basket and her right hand is gently grabbing the tassels from the basket. It is in excellent condition.

This 1950¡¯s ivory carved beauty is 9 ¼ inches tall (10 ½ inches tall with wood base), 2 inches wide and 1 ½ inches thick. She wears a phoenix design hairpin. Her right hand is holding a round fan; in her left hand, is a flower. She is in excellent condition.

This 1970¡¯s Chinese carved polychrome bone statue is 6 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide. It depicts a cricket sitting on a Chinese cabbage (Napa). There is a red plant wrap around the bottom of the cabbage. The technique of carving and dying is superb. It is in great condition.

This contemporary ivory carving is 1 ¾ inches tall and 1 ½ inches wide. It depicts a seated German Shepherd. The carving is interesting. It seems the carver was quite familiar with dogs. It is in very good condition.
