Vintage brass “puja kalash” water or milk container used in ritual Hindu ceremonies from Southern India, H: 13cm/5.1in x D: 12cm/4.8in. Very finely turned in a simple but elegant shape and quite heavy, near 1kg- and signed (noted in enlargements), appears to be unused but with some patina- made circa mid 20th century.

Old mask with black patina, presence of goat skin with black hairs to represent hairs, eyelashes, eyebrows, mustaches and beard. The mouth is open showing the sculpted upper teeth. The top of the head is cut to represent the crown indicating an important man in his community. Very heavy and hard wood. Age at least mid 20th. H 32 cm

Clearly this a very early ghurra showing greatly achieved carving art combined with thick crusted patina and significant signs of wear. The sculpture motifs represent on both side of the ghurra a scene of churning, supported by an interlacing which could represent snakes which it is however difficult to formally identify as the deposit is important and hides the details. The front and back sides of the ghurra are symmetrical H 31 cm, , width 9.5 cm , Thickness 3 cm

Very unusual “janus” designed mushroom mask; one side shows the native wrinkled face of the mushroom whereas the opposite side shows a smooth face with more carving work. Eyes and mouth are common to both faces. The mask has ear pendants, which are made with 2 different seeds, one is rudraksha bead which is the seed of a very common tree in Nepal...

The aime of the carvers is to take advantage of the native form of the mushroom. These masks are usually hung inside homes to function as protective effigies. Old Terail mask likely from Rajbansi tribes (South Nepal and part of Indian Orissa. This mask represents the monkey deity Hanuman, a well know actor of the Ramayana Theater, fine black patina, important signs of use and age i.e. at least from mid 20th H 31 cm , Wide 19 cm. A customised iron stand could be provided if needed.

This ritual plaque is from Himachal Praddesh ( North West India). The local name is 'Mohra'. These plaque are usually bronze casted, but copper “repoussz” can also be found. They are depicting Lord Shiva in his Ardhanaresvara form, i.e half woman and half man. Shiva is the main deity workshipped during the Phagli festival in mid February. age circa at least early to mid 20th, H 8 cm

Shamanic phurbu whose top part shows a rider with hands joined in the ritual gesture of Namaste. The mount is not a horse but could be the ashoka lion. age circa 50 years. Height 29cm.

Tibetan shamanic horn whose local name is Nag Ru or sometimes also Thun-rva. This horn can contain either incense or essentially vegetable matter with medicinal properties. Presence of sculptures of some auspicious symbols, chorten, turtle, dorgi, mandala. The tapered part represents a Makara mouth which has an orifice to project the contents during rituals. Very good condition, good age at least mid-20th. H 16 cm, max diameter 4.5 cm

This is a very old dhyandro drum handle showing a very thick encrusted soot aptina. The design of the sculpture clearly indicates a Buddhist influence, in fact the shape of the Makala trunk turned upward is a characteristic of Buddhist phurbus, the central part is a dorgi wrapped with heavily fouled cloth strips. This dhynadri handle was collected in the Kirong Valley (inside Tibet)...

Mask carved in a very hard wood from the root of the tree whose local name is "Jugardana". On the top of the mask, you can still see natural parts not modified by the sculptor. These masks are mainly used for decorative purposes. H 20 cm

This drum handle is still provided with the wooden wedge which is used to fix it on the drum. The top shows 3 faces with open and threatening mouths, each face is separated by the Shaivite trisul. The center part is a very fine dorgi framed by spherical basketwork patterns the whole giving a shape that fits well in the hand. The triangular point shows a very beautiful sculptural work. ON each angle is a Makara mouth with wide open eyes and whose hands grip very realistically sculpted snakes...

Large size gurra, the long stick consists of 4 beautifully carved long strings with an open space between them which demonstrates fine carving craftsmanship. A realistic rope knot is in the middle. Formal Indian Sari (just like the ones you see in Bollywood movies), worn for weddings or important religious occasions. This has never been worn. I acquired it from an estate where it has been sitting in a trunk for the past 20 years, and the inside humdity, which caused the brown dye to bleed into the embroidered border somewhat. Please examine images. This L: 5m x 1.4m and is handloomed silk. It was woven in Banaras in the two toned Tanchoi style and silver thread “jari” embroidery...

Beautiful and old butter rod guide, this long-handled model is characteristic of the Tamang ethnic group and of the Rameschap places. The surface is finely and richly carveded with symmetrical patterns inspired by basket weaving. The 2 medallions located at the top certainly bore the faces of a protective ancestor. There are obvious signs of use at the level of the large orifice which serves as a guide for the churning stick (local name is "mandani")...

Old mask with a severe appearance. The position of the orbits is asymmetrical, the nose is long and tapered. The mouth is small open showing small carved teeth. The inner crving is clean and symmetrical with a cavity for the dancer's nose. The ears are sculpted and large in size. The holes for the passage of the carrying links are of conical sizes, certainly indicating that they were made using the technique of the reddened steel nail...

Early 20th century North India, Indian Muslim women necklace with solid silver enameled (Meenakari), Islamic amulet (Ta'wiz-Muska). Case of cylindrical form elaborately decorated on each site with peacock and floral sprays.

The amulet’s elongated shape indicates that a piece of paper rolled as a scroll may have been kept inside the body of the amulet. The text likely would have included Qur’anic verses written in tiny ghubari, or dust script. In this manner, the words of God, expressed ...

Antique early 20th-century Indian padlock entirely made of brass and adorned with the Hindu god Hanuman on the front plate.

Please note that this lock is entirely made of brass, including body and shackle. The later Indian brass padlocks have an iron shackle instead of a flat brass shackle like this padlock.

Interesting set of two Indian or Nepalese silver figurines of musicians, c. early 20th. century.

The figures are made of fairly high grade silver, at least .800 or more. They are well-made with lots of added bangles and both playing instruments.

A framed lithograph entitled "Horse" by the artist, Kaiko Moti (1921-1989). Moti was born in Bombay, India. He studied at the Bombay School of Fine Art and spent time living and working in Paris. Mask with black soot patina whose edges of the mouth and eyes are enhanced with red and also white for the eyes only. Old tribal mask from the North West of Nepal, Humla district, we can see several old shreds of hairy skin (possibly from goat?) fixed on the forehead and the chin as well as important vestiges of hair fixed with glue around the mouth. The teeth have been sculpted in a very realistic, important black soot patina. H 25 cm, important age from the beginning to the middle of the 20th century

A pair of Syrian pier mirrors made of Wengi wood. Inlaid crown and frame with brass, mother-of-pearl, Ebony, bone, and Mahogany. The crown each features a bouquet of flowers each with its own individualized pot displaying Carnations and Poppies. The frames display scrolling morning glories and a double border of an inlaid rope design of bone, Mahogany and Boxwood. scrolling morning glories. With beveled mirrors.

Mask carved in a very hard wood, the design is minimal. However the lines formed by the nose and the continuity with those located above the eyes evoke the shape of a spider. Old mask carved in a very hard wood depicting a benevolent expression face covered with a beautiful and thick black patina. Not remains of animal hairs or horsehair that represented the hairiness of the eyebrows, moustache and chin. Three nails on the forehead were supposed to retain a fragment of leather. The symmetry of the sculpture gives it a smoothing presence. Probably from Western Nepal and the Magar ethnic group. Age is important at least early 20th century H 25 cm n Width 14 cm,

Early Himalayan or India Copper alloy vase or Huqqah base beautiful shape reminds me of the I dream of Jeanie Bottle. Well cast and heavy with signs of extensive use. Unmarked good condition though there is a bend to the foot rim as seen in images. H 9.25" diameter 5.5"

17-18th c Bengali solid cast Bronze Temple Krishna statue. Very rare sculpture seldom seen in marble ever rarer in bronze at this size. Dark surface with solid cast base very heavy just under 16 pounds and 14.5" tall base 3.75 by 3.5". Loss of arms as seen in images.

Antique Nepalese Rice Beer vessel with extensively engraved surface. The vase shapes vessel is elaborately cast bronze with nice detail at the neck with the entire body engraved including the interior rim that also includes a temple inscription. Very rare piece and in great condition. Nearly 5 pounds and 13.5" high and 7" diameter.
