Very old mask from East Nepal, beautiful black patina of soot. Goat skin nailed to the forehead and chin, good age at least mid-20th century. Very hard wood, excellent condition, H 26 cm, width 18 cm, can be delivered on a metal base.

Large size gurra, the long stick consists of 4 beautifully carved long strings with an open space between them which demonstrates fine carving craftsmanship. A realistic rope knot is in the middle. This ritual plaque is from Himachal Praddesh ( North West India). The local name is 'Mohra'. These plaque are usually bronze casted, but copper “repoussz” can also be found. They are depicting Lord Shiva in his Ardhanaresvara form, i.e half woman and half man.
