One of a kind quirky Thai pangolin amulet carved from bone with Khon script signifying this has some spiritual meaning. I have never seen one these before- possibly used as knife in symbolic blood letting rituals where the shaman cuts out “evil” from his patient. Probably about 30 year old this is a lovely abstract interpretation of a Scaly Anteater. L: 13cm/5.2in.

A good original shaman's mask from the Middle Hills of Nepal. Probably Magar, Gurung or from a similar ethnic group. It's a rather large example, WxHxD 21x28x8cm that shows good signs of age and authenticity. Once it had a beard, moustache and eyebrows made of animal hair...

A large mask from the Middle Hills of Nepal, possibly Magar or Gurung, mid 20th C. Under the nose and on the chin and on the forehead pieces of leather are applied. Once this would have been animal hide with lavish hair adding to the expression of the mask. Over the years nothing off the hair has survived except for a few traces. On the inside there's an old local repair visible where the wood on the top has broken, likely caused by falling. Dim.:19x31x10cm. Weight:635gr.

A mask carved from dense wood with traces of painted decorations covered with a dark patina. It probably stems from Arunachal Pradesh region. Judging the ears and wide nose it looks like a feline predator but it could well be something else instead. There's an old crack in the chin and a small chip on the nose. A well carved mask in good condition. Dim.: WxDxH19x29x13,5cm. Weight: 870gr

A mask carved from a mushroom, Eastern part of Nepal, Raj people. This type of masks hang in the houses to ward of evil and danger. They are called "fog-eaters" as they are credited with the power to keep fog away from the mountains; fog being a danger when one had to go out and travel. The use of this mask fits in a shamanistic type of belief that is still quite strong among the Raj. Dim.: WxDxH 28x14x22cm. In good condition with a smokey patina.
