Very good condition with rich period patina.

Dense and linear repousse flowers and fronds wrapped around sides, and a bigger and looser arrangement on cover top. Gilt-washed interior. Interlaced script monogram engraved on bottom underside. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 7969 (first produced in 1884), and director’s letter M (1873-91). Excellent condition.

Cover flat and hinged, and scroll-bracket handle with scallop shell thumb rest. Engraved ornament: On sides, leafing scrollwork, flowers, and eagles, and on cover top round frame (vacant) surrounded by leafing scrollwork. With cobalt glass liner. Fully marked. Victorian Modern sterling silver and glass figural jar. Made by Elizabeth Hutton in London in 1893. Owl-form with curved clear-glass body on four block feet. Sterling silver collar and hinged head with engraved armorial on top. Yellow and black glass eyes set in concave circles, and curved beak. A wise bird with penetrating gaze. Fully marked. Excellent condition.

Nostalgic glass vanity jar with enameled sterling silver cover. Made in London in 1934. Oval jar with straight and fluted sides. Cover has motoring scene: A Victorian lady and two gentlemen tootle along in a turn-of-the-century automobile. A sweet look back. Hallmark includes George V’s silver jubilee mark. Indistinct maker’s mark – possibly Thomas Dalton Pannett & Son, Ltd. Fine condition with strong color.

Set of 6 Victorian sterling silver equestrian place card holders. Made by Samuel Jacob in London, 1896-1902. Cut out with chasing, stippling, and tooling. Each different with jockeys, polo players, and hedge-jumping hunters. Hinged c-scroll support.

Fully marked including date letters 1896 (3), 1901 (1), and 1902 (2). Five holders have each a different design number; the numbers were registered between 1894 and 1897. Three have retailer’s stamp (Thornhill & Co.). Very good condition.

Victorian sterling silver box. Made by William Thomas Wright & Frederick Davis in London in 1885. Rectangular with straight sides. Cover flat and hinged with tapering tab. Engraved racecourse scenes. On cover and front horses thunder past spectators in bowlers and top hats. On ends and back are ambling, prancing thoroughbreds being put through the paces by trainers. Interior cedar-lined and partitioned. Open bottom leather-lined. Very good condition.

Delightful Victorian sterling silver rattle. Made by WH Collins & Co. in Birmingham in 1897. Kitty stands stiffly in snug fitting jacket and trousers. Only the tail is free to flick back and forth. A funny depiction of feline ill grace. A bit of a sour puss, but endearing nonetheless. Mother of pearl handle. Fully marked. Good condition.
