An imposing gilt bronze image of the Protector(Vidyaraja) Yamantaka in congress (yabyum) with his female counterpart. Yamantaka is one of the principal protectors of the Gelugpa tradition, which provided the main imperial preceptors for the Qing rulers. The image is cast of multiple parts held together by short spikes. Qing, late 18th to early 19th cent, Jiaqing-Daoguang. H 24 cm. Condition: Excellent. Price on request.

Seated Amida Buddha, the hands placed centrally on the lap in the Amida jo-in meditation mudra. Yosegi-zukuri joined-block wooden construction, the eyes of inset crystal, finished in lacquer and gilt. Early-Edo Period ca. 1650. Very good condition overall, with only minor old wood loss and inter-block cracking as well as desirable rubbing and patination to the lacquer-and-gilt finish.
