With neo-classicism a dominating influence in decorative arts at the end of the 18th century, it is most natural that dinner service wares would follow suit with clean simple lines and decorations as we see in this Chinese export porcelain pitcher.

Its chief decorative elements are subtle molded shapes and contours in the helmet form and the spare blue and white enameling of its body. The foot and the rim of the pitcher are embellished along with a lone bouquet of basket flowers - a...

This porcelain plate was produced in England by Mintons in 1883. The date cipher indicates this year. The plate was produced especially for Tiffany of New York. The painting is attributed to Henry Mitchell, a Minton artist specializing in painting dogs and wildlife. The plate measures 9 ½ inches in diameter. The central focus is the nearly photographic quality painting of a sleeping hound dog on a fur rug. Objects in the background come to life with colors and textures. The surrounding ...

This extremely rare and very early Derby enameled wine taster is of circular shape with gadrooned sides, and has a pierced scroll handle in puce with the exterior handle ends with applied leaves in green. The exterior has puce foliate sprays, and the interior has a circular central panel edged with black and red lines containing an insect.

While the form itself is uncommon, they are usually done in blue and white, and polychrome examples are of the "utmost rarity." It is for this reason that ...

Fine and very rare large Ko Kutani (Ko arita) plate signed with stilt marks. Date: circa 1670. Classic colors and design in a very early example. Condition: Excellent, one tiny flake is off one of the green leaves, (see detail photograph), no chips, cracks or repairs. Also, there is an original firing flaw (a jagged crack) on the base.
