Cover hinged and raised. Squashed ball corner supports. Engraved naif ornamental borders and, on cover top, Renaissance scene with mounted hunter and hounds in pursuit of a stag. With key. Gothic sterling silver porringer. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Concave sides on short foot. Rim reeded with applied leaves. Solid handle with carved figure of medieval horn-blowing huntsman. An impressive example of the breadth of historic resources and techniques that Tiffany mined during the 19th century. Hallmark includes pattern no. 9680 and director’s letter T (1892-1902).

Large Russian Classical 875 silver bowl, ca 1843. Oval well with engraved armorial and curved and fluted sides with applied scroll and shell armorials (vacant). Rim has applied leaves, scrolls, and scallop shells. Fully marked including Adolf Sper maker’s stamp, St Petersburg city stamp, and Dimitri Tverskoy assay master’s stamp dated 1843. Central socket on knopped base to which are mounted two leaf-capped and -wrapped scrolled arms, each terminating in single socket munted to wax pan. Sockets urn form on raised foot. Federal Classical silver ladle. Made by Gould & Ward in Baltimore, ca 1820. Upturned fiddle terminal engraved with script monogram. Marked “Gould & Ward Baltimore” with “11-12”, which was the Baltimore alloy. Gould & Ward succeeded Gelston & Gould and was in turn succeeded by Gould, Stowell & Ward. A genealogy of Baltimore silver embodied in a useful serving piece. Very good condition with nice patina.

George II sterling silver mug. Made by Samuel Welles in London in 1759. Baluster bowl with leaf-capped double-scroll handle. Raised foot with tooled leaf border. Chased and engraved bucolic scene with hounds racing through an orchard. A later Victorian homage to the tranquility of rural life. An even later engraved presentation in the frame formed by the leafing, overhanging trees: “Palm Beach Golf Club / Florida / State Championship / 1916 / First Prize / Runner Up / Won By”.
