This is a 10-1/2" x 8-1/2" ball-footed swing-handle serving basket fully hallmarked for Sheffield, England 1895-6. Made by James Dixon & Sons, this basket has ornate repousse decoration in the bowl as well as attractive design to the ornate handle. A Chinese silver vase with elaborate handles and decorated in repousse work with a phoenix on a hammered ground and the sides showing flowers and foliage, the back with a plain shield. A large and rare, early 19th C Gathering Basket from North Carolina of rectangle shape with 2 steamed and bent handles. In great condition, it is very tightly woven with a double wrapped rim. Basket is coated with cream colored paint, probably milk paint. Wood is unknown, possibly split oak. From the private collection of an appraiser of Early Americana. A rare sterling silver modernist necklace by Phyllis Sklar, American Mid Century jeweler. This piece has a sterling wire overlay on a darkened, oxidized surface adorned with an oval moonstone cabochon, three small pearls, a green bezel set stone, (maybe jade) and dangles of pale green and dark red bezel set cabochons.
