Pair of Victorian sterling silver bread trays. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Ovoid well with fluid egg-and-dart border. Pierced and chased rim with dynamic leafing scrollwork; Prince of Wales feathers at ends. Sumptuous, nicely toned gilding. The ones to bring out when royalty comes for dinner. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 12356 (first produced in 1895), and director’s letter T (1892-1902). Very good condition.

Pair of German 800 silver figural bird bowl, ca 1920. Each: Swan with ovoid body, upturned tail, and scaly-s-scroll neck terminating in in closed bill. Imbricated feathers and hinged plumy wings that can be opened to suggest flight. Hollow gilt-washed interior for holding treats. German marks including Hanau maker’s stamp (Gebrüder Neumann) and American importer’s stamp (Buchholz & Zelt). Very good condition.

Each: Globular socket with turned downleaf-and-dart rim; knopped and baluster shaft on domed foot mounted to shaped square base with applied leaf rim and splayed corner paw supports. Pair of dramatic sterling silver seafood serving bowls. Made by Buccellati in Italy. Each: Two joined scallop-shells bowls on scallop-shell supports. A traditional form enlivened by the figure of an octopus squatting in the center, its curled and tangled legs draped over the bowls. A graphic contrast between the scales and suckers of the octopus and the controlled and stylized ornament on the shells. Very original. Beautiful craftsmanship.
