Victorian Classical sterling silver goblet. Made by Barnard & Sons in London in 1872. Oval bowl on flanged and knopped shaft flowing into stepped and raised foot. Acid-etched equestrian frieze between stylized palmette borders. Circular cartouche (vacant). Foot encircled with fruiting berry branch. Large chalice size suitable for ceremonies. Fully marked; numbered 615 on foot underside. Very good condition.

Cover flat and hinged, and scroll-bracket handle with scallop shell thumb rest. Engraved ornament: On sides, leafing scrollwork, flowers, and eagles, and on cover top round frame (vacant) surrounded by leafing scrollwork. With cobalt glass liner. Fully marked.
