Oval well surrounded by wide and irregular shoulder with scrolled and whiplash eddying water—a whirlpool made more dangerous by the beckoning Lorelei. Well has engraved script monogram D. Edwardian sterling silver butter dish, ca 1900. Round and deep well. Applied wide and cast rim with open leafing scrollwork and flowers. Liner has ornamental piercing. Fully marked including stamp for Roger Williams, a Providence maker that merged other makers to form the Mt Vernon Company, which in turn was acquired by Gorham in 1913. Also, retailer’s stamp (Foster & Co.) and no. 71S. Very good condition.

French Classical silver coffeepot, 18th century. Baluster with silver-mounted stained and turned wood handle. Cover hinged with bud finial. V-form fish-mouth spout. Three hoof supports with oval medallion mounts. Gadrooning, twisted fluting, and ribbon-tied blossoming branch. Engraved on underside are 3 presentations of which two dated 1881 and 1950 as well as phrase “Bought in Tours, France”. Marked. Good condition with nice patina.

Pretty German 800 silver and crystal decanter, ca 1910. Curved and faceted crystal body flowing into spread base; acid-etched flowers, leaves, and scrolls. Drum-form neck in silver collar with tooled flowers and scrolls. Silver ovoid and faceted stopper with flowers and scenes of gallantry. Pierced silver border at base with scrolls and shells. Marks include maker’s stamp for Vereinigte Silberwarenfabrik in Hanau. Good condition.

Large French Etruscan 950 silver coffeepot, ca 1820. Ovoid body with spool neck, side-hinged cover, and raised and round foot. Upright S-spout with ram’s head mouth, and low relief leaves and gadroons. Leaf-and-dart borders. Cover has bud finial on scroll and flower mount. High-looping stained-wood handle with silver mounts: a ram’s head at top, a garlanded face at bottom. Robust Classicism. Fully marked including maker’s initials AL. Fine condition.
