This is a very fine and rare 18th or 19th century white jade sutra plaque. It was made of a very fine piece of mutton fat white jade of an even and very pale milky white tone. It was skilfully carved in intaglio and gilt with the Chinese version of Prajnaparamita Hridaya Sutra, the Heart Sutra on both sides translated by the famous Tang dynasty monk, Xuanzang. Jade is such a hard material that it is extremely difficult to carve the Sutra on a plaque of this size. Yet the carvings are excellent a...

This gorgeous necklace was made by contemporary New York designer jeweler, Stephen Dweck. It measures 26" long and drapes down approximately 3 1/2" in front. The metal is antique bronze and it has a variety of carved stones including tiger eye, citrine, and agate. It is not signed, like many Dweck pieces I've seen during my employment at Neiman Marcus. I personally sold this to a former client during a Dweck trunk show, and it only bore a paper "Stephen Dweck" label. It is in excellent cond...

Superb and extremely rare silverplated cocktail shaker in the "Ile de France" pattern by Meriden Britannia Plate Co. This is one of the most desirable of the high style Art Deco shakers. The ocean liner "Ile de France" was launched in 1926--not as the largest ship afloat, but intentionally as the most elegant ship in the world. This shaker was intended to celebrate that achievement and took its streamlined design elements from the ship itself. The pour spout protrudes from the side of the sh...

Done by top-quality marble stone, a great Buddha’s head was well carved.
A typical piece of the early to mid-Tang periods, the marble head was well carved by the hands of the excellent craftsman.
The religious piece was well depicted in details: on top, the spiral ushnisa and the features of the face –the full cheek, almond eyelids and well-defined lips, all were meticulously rendered by affluent and sleek carving skills.
Due to natural cause or some...
