Chased and engraved bucolic scene with hounds racing through an orchard. A later Victorian homage to the tranquility of rural life. An even later engraved presentation in the frame formed by the leafing, overhanging trees: “Palm Beach Golf Club / Florida / State Championship / 1916 / First Prize / Runner Up / Won By”. Federal Classical silver ladle. Made by Gould & Ward in Baltimore, ca 1820. Upturned fiddle terminal engraved with script monogram. Marked “Gould & Ward Baltimore” with “11-12”, which was the Baltimore alloy. Gould & Ward succeeded Gelston & Gould and was in turn succeeded by Gould, Stowell & Ward. A genealogy of Baltimore silver embodied in a useful serving piece. Very good condition with nice patina.

Nostalgic glass vanity jar with enameled sterling silver cover. Made in London in 1934. Oval jar with straight and fluted sides. Cover has motoring scene: A Victorian lady and two gentlemen tootle along in a turn-of-the-century automobile. A sweet look back. Hallmark includes George V’s silver jubilee mark. Indistinct maker’s mark – possibly Thomas Dalton Pannett & Son, Ltd. Fine condition with strong color.

A poignant tribute to the lasting popularity of Edwardian Neoclassicism in the dark days of World War I. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Bowl has shaped pointille ornament and wire scrollwork applied with cast fluttering and flapping birds. Beading. Oval frame engraved with 3-letter monogram. On top parcel gilt with engine-turned ornament with wavy lines between honeycomb; sizes have diaper in trapezoidal frames. Cedar-lined interior; open leather-lined bottom. Fully marked. Very good condition with some gilding loss.
