Classical coin silver serving tongs. Made by William Gale & Son in New York. U-form with traditional English double-scroll terminal on each side and scalloped shanks. One side has shaped blade with open rectangles; the other side has 3 tines. Monogram engraved on handle. A fine piece by a historic maker, that underwent many changes in partnerships and names. It was active in this incarnation in the 1850s. Marked. Very good condition. Taut and springy.

Classical coin silver baby cup. Made by John L. Westervelt in New York, ca 1860. Straight and gently tapering sides, capped s-scroll handle, and beaded rims. Two rondels interspersed with fleurs de lys and inset with male and female Renaissance profiles. Large round cartouche with strapwork border (vacant). A beautiful example of the Medallion motif that Westervelt also used on his flatware. Marked “J. L. W.” Very good condition with strong definition.

Corinthian sterling silver ice tongs. Made by Roger Williams in Providence. U-form with pierced jaws. Terminals have fluid shell and leaf ornament. Roger Williams was active in the early 1900s. It merged with Mauser in 1903 to form the Mt Vernon Company, which continued to produce this pattern. Fully marked including maker’s and retailer’s (Marshall Field & Co.) stamps. Excellent condition.
