Turn-of-the-century American Art Nouveau sterling silver bonbon scoop. Large and round bowl with open scrollwork bordered by pierced striation with serrated rim. Scrolled handle with dense and entwined tendrils, and traditional shell terminal. Shaped cartouche (vacant). Fully marked including no. 506 and stamp for Meriden Britannia, a maker that was part of International. Very good condition.

Corner frames inset and entwined with wreaths, leaves, and rondels inset with flower heads. Ornament in low relief on stippled ground. On top rail is engraved single letter monogram (M) between leafing scrolls. With glass, silk lining, and velvet back and hinged easel support. Chased semi-abstract tendrils terminating in volute scrolls, garlands, and pendant flowers. A fluid, slightly hallucinatory take on traditional ornament. Gilt-washed interior.
