Early 19th century netsuke of a cat on an upturned bowl containing a very fat octopus tentacle, part of it showing outside the bowl causing serious interest of the animal. Superb quality netsuke, fantastic face, excellently carved and etched bottom of the bowl representing an irregular unglazed foot of the vessel. Great depiction of suction cups and cat’s collar.
