This is a rare and nice Choson period, 15th century Korean underglaze iron-brown decorated punchong glazed flask. It was beautifully and spontaneously painted with floral patterns in iron brown under a punchong glaze. The lower half of the vase was broken but nicely repaired. This is a nice and rare Korean Choson dynasty, 15th or 16th century white glazed vase. It has a nicely potted pear shape and is covered in a fine and pure white glaze. During King Sejong's Reign in the early Choson dynasty, white wares were declared the Imperial wares and were reserved for court use. Bizen Sangiri stoneware vase made by Jun Isezaki (b. 1936).
Sangiri is the Bizen technique when the vessel is partially buried in sand in the kiln.
The exposed area turns blackish because the ashes that cover it retards oxidation.
Jun Isezaki was named a Living National Treasure in 2004.
Bizen ware was originally produced in Imbe village of Bizen province since Kamakura period of 14th century.
Another very attractive antique Persian bowl dating from the 11th to 15th century.
The bowl shows marks of its age yet remains a sublime work of art.

This is an extremely rare and important Imperial Korean 15th/16th century Choson Dynasty iron brown decorated punchong pear-shaped vase. It was used for holding wine or decoration in the Korean palace during the Choson Dynasty. It was finely and spontaneously painted with two fish patterns in iron brown under the slip glaze. This appliqué Mahakala mask was one of four decorating a ritual dancer’s cloud collar. The background silk used is a very fragile silver thread brocade possibly dating from the 13th century. This would account for the cloud collar having become fragmentary.
