Fine Large Chinese Qianlong 18th Century Imari Porcelain Dish
This fine-quality porcelain dish with attractive floral pattern in underglaze blue, red enamel and gilding, was made during the 18th century, most likely during the Qianlong reign (1736 - 1795). There is a brown iron wash around the rim edge to prevent "fritting" of the glaze during firing. There is no restoration or repair, no cracks and the dish has a good ring when tapped; it is in fine condition. Diameter 32 cm.

This is a very fine and rare 18th or 19th century white jade sutra plaque. It was made from a very fine piece of mutton fat white jade of an even and very pale milky white tone. It was skilfully carved in intaglio and gilt with the Chinese version of Prajnaparamita Hridaya Sutra, the Heart Sutra on both sides translated by the famous Tang dynasty monk, Xuanzang. Jade is such a hard material that it is extremely difficult to carve the Sutra on a plaque of this size. Yet the carvings are excellent...
With neo-classicism a dominating influence in decorative arts at the end of the 18th century, it is most natural that dinner service wares would follow suit with clean simple lines and decorations as we see in this Chinese export porcelain pitcher.
Its chief decorative elements are subtle molded shapes and contours in the helmet form and the spare blue and white enameling of its body. The foot and the rim of the pitcher are embellished along with a lone bouquet of basket flowers - a...

This is a European style swirled glass snuff bottle. Before anyone categorizes it as purely European, I want to make clear it was personally acquired by me in Shanghai, China in 1999, regardless.
The bottle is 2 1/4 inches tall (5.5 cm) tall without the stopper. It has a hexagon shaped neck and has been fitted with a custom stopper (jasper cabochon and bamboo spoon) from the only online custom snuff bottle stopper site (see my home page here).
My best guess is that it is from 1900-1920.
