There is an added inscritpion carved into one side recording that this item was given as a gift in Hong Kong in 1953. A finely carved Chinese jade recumbent pig in a nearly uniform spinach green color with a particularly expressive face indicating most likely a 20th C. origin. The details in the mouth, tongue, teeth, hooves, and ears are very fine. Mass is 365.6 grams, 3 3/4" l, specific gravity 2.90-2.93, and impervious to steel blades, indicative of nephrite jade.
