This old Japanese Noh theater mask has the expressive face of an old man. The mask is carved from paulownia wood and dates to middle Edo period, around 1750. The patina is wonderful.

A rare model of Ghurra composed of a chain with 2 square links whose upper link carries an ancestor seated at its top who seems to be in a meditation position. The lower link shows on each of its 4 faces naive sculptures of various mythical animals, elephant, deer, cow, dog and peacock. The ancestor measures 9 cm high, his face measures 3 cm. Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period rectangular form porcelain plaque painted in famille rose enamels and gilt highlights with a crane on a pine branch above thick leafy flowers. This large Buddha is approx. 250 years old and is carved of one piece of old DARK wood. It came from a well known antique dealer in Bejing, China. The spoils of time, the cracks, the leavings of colour and the signs of age give a valuabel proof of its authenticity.

A charming porcelain statue was rarely found from an old collection.
In amusing subject of Mother and Child, this statue was put in the famous Chinese antique magazine Art and Collection - May edition, to celebrate the international Mother's Day of May.
It was well preserved without any crack-lines and was free from any restorations.
Of course, due to long time of burial, some abrasions were caused to the surface (see details).

A Chinese Bronze Censer figure of buffalo and the figurine, Qing Dynasty. The figure of buffalo length approximately 12.6 cm and height approximately 7 cm. A fine Arita blue & white porcelain flower vase to be mounted on a wall, kakehana. 18th century.

The flower vase is heavily moulded with a leaping Chinese Lion or karashishi in a landscape of rocks and Tree Peonies, a classic subject in Japanese art known as “Botan-ni-Shishi”, an auspicious subject.

This old kakehana was manufactured in Arita in the mid Edo period, probably for the home market.

This tripod censer is raised on three animal-masked feet that support its large, rounded body. The rim is decorated with a key fret design, and the body has ten lappets composed of stylized mask and key fret designs all in low relief. It retains its original brown patina overall with a deep greenish gray interior from use. Good condition.

A massive bronze (copper tin alloy) vase cast in Han dynasty Hu shape and with Han style Taotie mask handles. The archaistic style decoration is an amalgam of Shang and Zhou dynasty motifs. This figure of a seated scholar is glazed turquoise with amber colored highlights. The back is mostly unglazed except for the original white slip coating, now darkened with age. A wood water basin was nicely carved in shape of a lotus leaf with a lotus pond.
It was preserved in very good condition by nice brownish patina.
Some of the seeds in the lotus pond were still movable when some were sticked but nothing is missing.
It was a charming and very rare piece by this type.

Used by the bride for wedding this elaborate kingfisher feather crown is a very old and rare piece. The oldest kingfisher ornaments were made by glueing the feathers onto heavy paper. Metal wire was only used to attach pieces together. Both paper and the feathers are fragile, so not many of these old pieces have survived.
