A pierced fragment of an antique Tibetan or Nepalese torana, worked in copper repousse with remains of gilding and colors. Showing a caparisoned elephant with a snow lion on his back, lifting a deity riding on the mythical beast "sharabha". Condition: wear to gilding, slightly warped. A fine pair of Kashmir lidded jars or vases. The copper base was first engraved with special tools to create the design in relief, the grooves were later filled with glass and then embellished with additional engraving and wonderful shiny gilding. This technique is called in India "meena" or "meenakari" and was first applied by the Mughal. Condition: fine, only one rim with a small dent and minor wear to gilding. Unusual mask with flat top, small forehead, relief pierced through eyes, protruding nose, open mouth showing pierced through teeth, short rounded chin. Wood, dark patina. A peepal tree leaf finely painted in ink, colour and gold, depicting two Buddhist disciples in a landscape setting. Pasted on grey cardboard, with inscription in gold and red seal on the left side. Mounted in a lotus leaf shaped frame and base, carved from hardwood. Condition: lower left corner with a stain, some traces of usage. Set of three large identical keman, made of gilt bronze. Decorative hangings from a Buddhist temple.
Each keman is fan-shaped (or perhaps boar's eye-shaped) with a design of two pairs of double chrysanthemum family crests set between karakusa (winding weeds) in openwork. The knotted cord in the center is executed in gilt bronze repoussé (hollow underneath). The openwork design is very carefully executed, with engraved details and nanako ground.

Sho-Kannon Bosatsu seated on a lotus-form dais. Yosegi-zukuri joined wood-block construction, finished in lacquer and gilt, the ornamental head-piece in gilt-copper and the eyes of inset rock-crystal. Early-Edo Period ca. 1675. Excellent condition, with only minor old loss to the head-piece and loss of the rock-crystal originally inset in the urna, with desirable patination overall.

Antique 18th – early 19th Century Chinese Qing Dynasty Carved Dragon Belt Hook mounted as a magnifying glass handle in a gilt copper mount with engraved flowers and leaf decoration attached to a circular polished magnifying lens. A well carved belt hook with a large dragon head hook with bulging eyes, curled horns and pierced mouth. Gilt-Wood Seishi Bosatsu seated atop a lotus-form dais and accompanying plinth backed by an elaborately detailed pierced-work wooden mandorla, the hands in the gassho adoration mudra. Yosegi-zukuri joined-block wooden construction, the eyes of inset crystal. Mid- to late-Edo Period ca. 1775. A Japanese cast iron tetsubin or water kettle with an undulating rim. The sides are cast in relief with a temple compound amid pines in a generic landscape, the reverse with sparrows in flight, all above a key-fret band. The kettle has a typical stubby "S" spout, wrought iron overhead swing handle, and is fitted with a bronze lid having "garlic clove" knop. A Chinese silver goblet of monumental size and magnificent craftsmanship, the cup with a diameter of 12.8 cm is chased and embossed with a continuous scene of numerous foot soldiers, warriors on horesback and courtiers in pavilions- all against a dense background of trees, mountains and pagodas. The stem is applied with finely cast dragons, showing minute details of face and skin.
